01 Let Our Songs Speak For Us

Let Our Songs Speak For Us was an exhibition that celebrated 50 years of the Centre of Aboriginal Studies in Music (CASM).

Located within the Univeristy of Adelaide, CASM is the only dedicated university centre for studies in Australian Indigenous music, and is an epicentre of musical training, community empowerment, and societal impact.

I designed a custom typeface for the exhibition's visual identity, inspired by the staunch activist spirit that brought CASM into being. The hand-cut lettering style pays homage to the posters, banners and signs created by Indigenous activists in the 1970s, the era of CASM’s inception.

I worked on this project as a designer for Cause/Affect Studio.

I acknowledge the Yuggera and Turrbal people as Traditional Custodians of the lands on which I live and work, and extend my respect to all First Nations people across this country. Sovereignty was never ceded.
